Erik Brown

Erik Brown, RKC, CSCS, is a registered Kettlebell instructor, and the spirited founder of Brown Fitness. Erik holds a B.A. in Exercise Science from the prestigious Texas Christian University, and has 22 years of experience in fitness training, with national certifications, inclusive of a designation as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, awarded by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Erik has been a fitness enthusiast all his life. Being a peak-performing athlete (he played football and baseball, and was a 3-year Letterman in college at TCU), and a leader on the field has helped him to be an amazing leader to, and motivator of, his clients. His passion for life, for helping people, and his ability to produce life-changing results have been a winning combination for all who have experienced his fitness training.

His mantra is, “I’m not here just to get you fit, I’m here to change your life!” Erik has been specifically mastering the art of Kettlebell training for the past 12 years and producing head-turning results for his clients for over 22 years. Additionally, although Erik hails from Texas, his mother is from Oslo, Norway, so he definitely also brings his Nordic exercise ethic to his brand of training!

Melissa Russell

Melissa Russell, CPFT, CSSC, CSMC, started with Brown Fitness in April 2011 as a client seeking that “niche” that would help her break through plateaus and take her to challenging levels beyond her imagination. With more success than ever thought possible, she achieved those goals and was inspired to set new ones.

Her transformation made such an impact on her life that she realized her passion was to help others transform as well. She holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and with Erik Brown as her mentor and guide, she completed her personal training certification through N.E.S.T.A. (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) and has been a part of the Brown Fitness team since 2013.

Over the years, she has worked with a variety of clients with various goals and needs, yet they all seem to have the same complaint: too much stress and not enough sleep. Realizing that a person should be treated as a whole, she expanded her education to include coaching in both stress and sleep management. She completed her Certified Stress Management Coach and Certified Sleep Science Coach certifications through the Spencer Institute in order to further assist her clients in reaching a healthier lifestyle.
